1. On the Azure Portal Home screen, use the search bar to search for storage accounts or select storage accounts from the Azure services bar.

  2. Once inside the Storage Accounts Utility, click + Create on the far left of the top tool bar.

  3. In the create screen follow the prompts and fill out the requested fields.

  4. Select your subscription.

  5. Select your resource group.

  6. Choose a Storage Account name. The name must be unique across all existing storage account names in Azure. It must be 3 to 24 characters long, and can contain only lowercase letters and numbers. Note: the storage account name is what you will use in the ingest config.json file as the input for the storage_account field.

  7. Then select the Region. Choose the Azure region that's right for you and your customers. Not all storage account configurations are available in all regions. Note this should be the same as the region that was selected in step 3 in the the deployment document.

  8. Select performance. For Scuba deployment and ingest the Standard version is ok. Learn more.

  9. Select the level of Redundancy. The data in your Azure storage account is always replicated to ensure durability and high availability. Choose a replication strategy that matches your durability requirements. Some settings can't be changed after the storage account is created. Learn more. For the Scuba deployment GRS is okay.

  10. Press Next to go to advanced.

  11. Next Choose security settings that work for you. Regarding the Scuba deployment make sure you have enabled storage account key access. All other inputs can be left default. When storage account key access is disabled, any requests to the account that are authorized with Shared Key, including shared access signatures (SAS), will be denied. Client applications that currently access the storage account using shared key will no longer work. Learn more.

  12. Press next to go on to networking.

  13. In the networking settings make sure that the public endpoint (all networks) connectivity method is selected.

  14. For network routing select Microsoft network routing.

  15. Press next to go to data protection.

  16. All inputs can be left to their default settings.

  17. Press next for tags.

  18. Tags are optional and not required for the Scuba deployment.

  19. Press Review + Create.

  20. If all of the settings look good then press Create on the bottom left.

  21. To immediately access the storage account click “go to resource”.
