Sampling is the process of selecting a subset of data from within a dataset for analysis. Sampling is a streamlined method for data collection and analysis.

  • Read-time sampling is the process of selecting a subset of read-time data—the time it takes to read a file. Sampling is a streamlined method for data collection and analysis.

  • Sampling on ingest takes a selection of a subset of data during the ingest process. This is particularly helpful when ingesting a live stream of data. Sampling provides a faster means for data collection and analysis.

  • Stratified sampling is a type of sampling method where the researcher divides the population into separate groups, called strata. A probability sample is then drawn from each group.
